      • Denver Dumb Friends League; Thanks for all you do. Keep up the quest to save homeless animals
      • DDFL is probably the best place to go if you want to add a new furry friend as a family member. They are a top notch organization with a knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly staff. My husband and I found one of the best friends we'll ever have at the DDFL. BTW, our friend is a HUGE cat, who's either a Burmeses or Snowshoe* mix named Mr. Trane. ("Trane" is short for the great jazz saxophonist John Coltrane). We adopted "Mr. T" (just one of his many nick names) back in March of 2002. At the time, I had no computer knowledge, nor did I have a computer to which it could be applied' thus I apologize for the belated review. However, I figure it's never to late to say thank you and give kudos to an organization dedicated and committed to saving the lives of so many! Mr.T's unique and "off-the-wall" antics have, and continue to provide us with lots of laughs and entertainment, smiles, and at times, outright "belly" laughs. Without him, our lives would feel empty compared to now, esp. considering even though my spouse and I have been together 20 years, we have no childern. Because he's in his 50s, I'm in my 40s, and we're not exactly in the financial shape necessary to raise a child, Trane is probably as close to having a child as we'll ever be. Hopefully, more teenage girls will adopt a more responsible attitude toward parenting, such as the one just described. I had to euthanize my other baby, Mr. Parker, shortly after the new year in January of 2000. He was adopted from the Greeley CO Humane shelter on this day (Valentines Day-exactly 19 years ago)At the time, I was a young graduate student attending the University of N. Colorado. He moved with us to Denver shortly after being adopted, where I resided as I completed the last sememster of the program at UNC. After his death, I was PARALYZED with grief and vowed I'd never share my life with another feline. The attending vet was an extremely wise and compassionate woman, first off, told me the feelings I was having were perfectly normal. She didn't judge me for them. She simply stated, perhaps I may never get another cat, or maybe I will, but that it might be far into the future and t make sure to allow enough time to grieve my loss. Most important is that If and when the time to adopt another cat were to happen, to listen to my heart because I'd know when the time was right. I'm so glad her wise words proved to be a truth I'll never forget or regret. I never, for a moment, regretted adopting Mr. Parker OR Mr,. Trane. Thank you, Greeley Humanse Society Thank you Denver Dumb Friends League SINCERELY, HOLLY H and PHIL W (Side Winder, 02/14/2009)
